Is Technology the Thing?

The humanities and the social sciences are not viewed so much, certainly not the humanities, as technological. So therefore they're less important. They're not part of the progress story. They don't provide convenience. But ther there are complex practices. And this distinction between technology and not technology, it serves certain interests. It serves the innovation of certain kinds of technologies and not others. A door is egress ingress. It's about defence. It’s about isolation. The way we get things done, the way things work or don’t work, a complex network of relationships,. is much more interesting.
