There are certain rules around how you can talk about comp with candidates. A hiring manager is not allowed to ask a candidate either what they want to be paid or what they're currently paid. If someone does furnish their own list of recommendations, and like the referra says something wild about them, is like, o ga, a bullet was dodged here.
