Virus hijacks the cell's own machinery to make more viruses. But changing the universal code makes that difficult for the invading virus. This technique has been shown to be effective to prevent viral infections. The team took some of these T RNAs and tweaked them, so they inserted the wrong amino acid into viral proteins. As a consequence, you don't have functional proteins.
