The Importance of Politeness in Meetings
If you want to sneak into a high security place, carry loads of shopping or something and be really close by. As soon as there are more people in the elevator than there are outside the elevator, then it comes down to distance versus capacity. You don't have to hold the door open for anyone unless it is clear that they also belong in that building and they're super close to you. I think even if that person is half distance, but you don't recognize them, you get in, you put the door. You can shut the door. It comes down to social cues, doesn't it?
