The Barbie Land: A Wayside School Reference

I thought that was a wayside school reference, maybe subconsciously because those books were popular around the time when like Greta Gerwig would have been growing up. I don't think it was like a conscious reference, but it's where a lot of comedy minded creators that are like a very specific part point in their 30s got started on that. That checks out. It is a fucking relief when a film actually trusts its audience these days. We've seen a million movies. Doesn't matter. They knew that we didn't care and we would accept it in this like magical realism sense.
