The cult of thomas beckett and the practice of pilgrimage to canterbury was actually already starting to decline. This kind of view of the world that arguably was embodied in these pilgrimages toCanterbury was already a little bit shaky by 14 hundred or so. It would come under severe strain and eventually attack later in the 14 and 15 dreds. So this, this way of viewing the world, which crystallized so beautifully in chaucer, would not, would not last. But i'll probably get to them later when i talk about becoming modern and the origins of the modern world.
