Judge Whalen is part of a network of nearly 7,000 women judges in more than 100 countries and territories around the world. The fear that I have heard in those voices was just unforgettable, she says. A senior judge in Afghanistan Supreme Court described cutting open the lining of one of her dresses to hide her law degree inside. They lost their own personal identity and their history and everything they worked about.
