I'm one of Deloitte's national charity partners, and the main thing they do is help schools to be more supportive of their LGBT students by providing an inclusive environment. I had a very, very supportive family life when I was a kid but despite knowing I was gay, I did not come out at all. To have had to constantly sense yourself or worry about the next question you are going to be asked has changed me as a person. And maybe a degree of shame about it, just because of how I was brought up,. And the total lack of understanding of what it even meant to be gay - in terms of your understanding of the difference between gay and straight people.
