squats are an axial load vector and jumping is a vector this way. They're both working similar muscles, the glute extension, but they're working it in those different platforms. Most movements, even ones as holistic as a squat require specialization. You can't get strong at the squat by doing. you're going to have some carry over, right? Obviously. But because taking an untrained person that hasn't done it is still not going to do as good as somebody that's done nonspecific work, but done work.
