The Great Fire of London
People sent their plans for a new London to the king, to Charles II. But London is not owned by one person and building control is not what it will one day become. rebuilding begins on same footprint as medieval city with landowners largely constructing whatever they wish. Most people return to sites of shops and businesses they owned before disaster. A new cathedral is designed by Christopher Wren on the site of the Old St Paul's - now one of London's most iconic landmarks.
