The Idiot
The decision to write either or came from doing the promotion around the idiot, and from having conversations with readers. And also, it was a pique moment of feminism, of feminism becoming main stream in a way that it han't been for most of my adult life. Its a very autobiographical novel, and t's really about a time when i started to think of myself as a literature person, as opposed to a politics person. I don't think it's something that a lot of younger people now share.
