Researchers measured just how much time b lost by looking at the distractors. Those distractor cuffs were like double or triple the size compared to just looking for one thing. People could multitask a bit, and they got better at it with some practice. But when she changed things just a little, switching the colors to red and blue, that multi task skill faded away.
