There are gulfs fixed in these things. I like to think that verse 26 is stated with a little bit of an ironic tone about gulfs being fixed. If they can't be persuaded by the prophets, even if I rise from the dead, they're not going to be persuaded. And you do have, I think, a specific reference in verse 31 to his own. But it's also one that if the scriptures can't change you, then probably nothing is going to change you.
