Introduction to the Islamic Kit Occult Sciences
The occult or magical sciences exist in the Islamic world and do they still? And the answer is definitely yes, it did and it does. The reason that there has been so little research done on this topic goes back to at least partly to colonialism and orientalism. There was an attempt to distance oneself from all practices considered occult, magical or irrational according to modern Western standards. We find examples of such ideas and practices from the earliest periods. They had been a part of the culture in the Middle East and North Africa and Central Asia since long before the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
