The 60 40 portfolio is experienced the worst drawdown in probably close to a century. The USA does not even cover their interest expense by one turn after you subtract out entitlements and military spending. There's room for them to cut rates to provide a buffer bond prices rise as yields fall, but we don't have that luxury right now.
