What's the Scope of Negation?

In English we just have not which tends to get glummed on to helping verbs and things like don't and didn't. But for the most part we just have one negative adverb. This is by no means the only way to do it. Ancient Greek and Sanskrit have two different negators. One is used for realists, non-finite forms. You might have a special way of marking prohibitions.
