How Magnets Are Making Their Mark in Modern Science
Researchers at the University of Cambridge have been using magnetic techniques to find that the London underground is polluted with tiny magnetic particles. The results which are published this week in the journal Scientific Reports are taken from samples collected at platforms, ticket halls and train operator cabins from a range of popular stations including Harry Potter's favourite, That's Kings Cross and also Paddington.
