Russia's Military Is in a Bad State
Right now, Russian military is actually in its most vulnerable and dire state heading into the winter. A lot of the better parts of that army have already been lost in this war. Russia's political leadership almost always ensures that the military is in the worst possible position at the start of a war. Right now it's heading into more of a defeat than anything else.
