The Importance of Grand Jury Secrecy in the Public Interest
The speech or debate clause in the Constitution generally immunizes members of Congress from having criminal liability, civil liability. And I do think here we have the first time ever it would appear based on Mike Pence's statements that any judge has applied the speech or debate privilege to a vice president in his role as president of the Senate. The presidential value of that decision alone suggests that it should be public.
