The carrying capacity of the biosphere for humans is not well determined at all. The main stream estimates go from, say, two billion to maybe 30 billion. It depends on how clean the tech is. So population as a number itself in and of itself is not adequate to make this description. And but i think you're to get to adequacy where everybody has food, water, shelter, clothing, health care, education and electrical power for all eight billion. That's duable, but only if we are concentrating on that as the goal.
