i want to distinguish between orthodoxy as many of us think of it to day, as a movement, versus orthodoxy as just like a way of being. Because the orthodox movement is relatively modern, it's something that arose in the last few hundred years. The impulse to resist change and to not be flexible has been around a long time - but so has its converse, rahtand. I am not disputing the fact that song of songs was written by a jew or a hebrew or whatever they they were called in those days. But it was part of the cultural literature of that of that age.
