Some people who are blind have gotten implants of electrodes on their tongue. They paint a picture for the user of this implant on their tongue, like bisapping itt a little electricity ad with enough training, that kind of becomes a little bit like vision. That makes me think of the sisters from the n i h like they couldn't touch the ball or walk in a straight line when their eyes were sed, but they could do it whentheir eyes were open. And in this case, with thee sisters, like sit, almost becomes part of their popeceptive system. So that's another way that all the senses, in the categories of the senses, really dissolve when you really study them.
Why stop at five senses? Just how much of the world can we perceive? And how much is out there that’s still out of reach, hiding in the dark?
This is the sixth and final episode of our six-part series, Making Sense.
