The Importance of Staying Off the Internet
I think we live in a culture that believes that if it's not Googleable, it doesn't exist. The majority of my time I spend with things that are not online, meaning books. Every citation, every footnote is essentially a hyperlink to some other source. And the problem with confining yourself to the internet is that there are certain biases that are implicit to the internet as a technology. We have this enormous arrogance of just culturally that no one's thought about these things before. Find something that is 100 years old that articulates it more beautifully and poignantly.
