The average American has fewer close friends than they did in the 19 fifties. Loneliness is equivalent on your life expectancy as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. Being lonely concumitively take about 15 years off your life, because it's a precursor to all these other ailments. When we're lonely, we're more likely to be addicted to things. And also, when you're lonely, you yearn to be part of groups that aren't helpful sometimes.
