You can pay your debts or you can do bankruptcy. The laws are different everywhere, and it might be a good idea to become debt free just to save money. In the U.S., this is possible with credit cards but not other types of loans. If you declare bankruptcy, if you become bankrupt, usually you cannot get more loans later.
