The impact that these populations have is actually surprising in comparison to their sheer number and the time when they recruit the brain. So we're always a little bit wondering, you know, why are they so important? Can they actually do their job on their own or are they just mediators and other cells are basically amplifying their effect? And it seemed to us that the most likely amplifier of this effect would be mitralia, the resident cells. What we've seen is that when we simply don't have any lymphocytes around and right not might with no TMD cells, the mitralial response to stroke is quite different.
