How to Change Your Opinion Based on Quality of Evidence Over Time
Women who spontaneously sought out hormone replacement therapy in the previous understanding also tended to pay more attention to health practices, exercise and good diet. When they randomized people and gave them hormone replacement therapy at random, regardless of these other factors, the protective effects of going to the doctor and jogging and exercising and eating well was so good that it overcame the harmful effects of the hormone replacement therapy. That's waffling and capricious. But someone who changes their opinion based upon increasing quality of evidence over time is being logical and rational and critical thinking.
