Spenotsa is trying to find a way for us to understand that to live the proper life as humans, we must house the possibility for action. He says there cannot be two or more substances of the same nature or attribute simply because there is really one substance. And any mode or what he also calls an affectation is only a specific moment of that one substance. Every substance is necessarily infinite because if not, there would be another substance of the same attribute, which would be absurd.
