Homer's Gods - Book 6 of Ovid's Metamorphoses

Homer's Gods is a look at the history of the Olympian pantheon in ancient Greek and Roman literature. In Ovid's Metamorphoses, Arachni wove a tapestry showing what happened when she challenged Athena to a weaving contest. The deities were depicted as rapists, torturers, sadists who had committed abominable crimes on mankind. This episode will conclude with the story of the Iliad; next week we'll talk about Homer's God.
