I was going to put an essay about Chris Marker in this book and then I thought I can't because I don't think I've ever said anything that wasn't kind of obvious about Marker. And so I took it out in the end. That quote got about 15 years ago. He's lurking behind the entire book because he's not just who's who, you know, he's like a sort of hethioso, surrounded by these 17 century curing images. But the thing that is in them, between them, they are all exploring this almost unidentifiable quality,. You know, that you dig into.
