The US's Strategy for the War on Crimea

I've been kind of disappointed with the tone and tenor of leaks from this administration. It almost seems like they're trying to wash their hands of what's happening in terms of the messaging. If that succeeds or doesn't succeed, either way, well, what follows? Because what will likely follow is a prolonged period of attritional fightinglike we've been doing for five months.
