I can easily envision him being among the most ferocious critics of identitarianism and this illiberal turn that we've witnessed across much of the left today. I always think it's a very unhealthy psychological state to be in to insist that, you know, these distinctions between people are the things that we should trumpet as loudly as possible for as long as possible. It just seems antithetical to the left-wing tradition that Hitchens emerged from, which was all about universalism.
