The Dangers of Social Media for Young Americans
The US surgeon general recently issued an advisory warning of what he called the profound risk of harm to adolescent mental health from social media use. This comes in the wake of studies showing skyrocketing rates of depression and suicide attempts among American teens. Claire, Cain Miller at the New York Times recently threw some cold water on those studies reporting that there's actually very little evidence proving that social media use is harmful.
