I was interested to be in whether other fields could develop a capability like that. And I also asked people in the same way that President Kennedy said let's put astronauts on the moon by the end of the decade and have been safely returned. What are the sort of similarly ambitious goals that we should be setting in the 21st century? The Cobbly Foundation organized a workshop that had half neuroscientists and half people in fields like nanoscience and synthetic biology. They were complaining about how far they were from having something like the central dogma of molecular biology, which is how does information flow from DNA to RNA to proteins.
