Before D-Day, there were fake tanks and fake trucks and vans. I think lots of armies around the world still have inflatable tanks to confuse air satellite imagery. The Allied forces did use fake tanks and positioned them as if the army was about to cross the English Channel at the Dover-Kalei part of the English Channel. And Germans were fooled by it. But aha, no they did it somewhere else instead. They just follow the river and Bob's your uncle, as they say.
