I deal with the stress by eating. I've put on five kilos in a month. Sometimes I try to calm down and get over the stress by smoking and meditating. Despite everything my Vash still has hope. Things have never been like this before. The demonstrations in 2018 were economic, about the price of petrol. In 2009, they were political, but this is the first social demonstration. We are a community of protesters. Of course, my Vash is just one individual, but her story is mirrored in the testimonies of literally thousands upon thousands of Iranians.
Unrest is only spreading and the authorities trying to quell it are looking increasingly desperate. We hear from one protester among many who are racked by fear but motivated by hope.
