The Life of Jacques, a 19-Year-Old Frenchman

In 1948, when he's 12 years old, his grandfather takes him to his very first Grand Prix race. He turns overnight into an avid collector of miniature cars and racing posters. By 1952, he's itching to get behind the wheel but is only 16 at the time. The day after his 18th birthday, he competes in his very first race. And this is how 19-year-old Jacques ends up at the June 11, 1955, 24-hour Le Mans race.
