Ablaut
Ablaut can be used for different verb stems for different tenses or aspects, and even certain grammatical forms. In there are a small number of Native American languages that have various kinds of Ablaut as well. These are internal vowel changes that very often have to do with verbs or what happens to a noun when it is incorporated into a compound.
