Josephine and Abteh wanted to meet with Charles de Gaulle. They were desperate to get signed up to the Free French Intelligence Service. But their raison d'etre was not to be as Dunderdale turned them away. Josephine had no choice but to leave France for safety in Casablanca. However, her intense lifestyle was beginning to catch up with her. In Casablanca, it all caught up with her and she fell seriously ill. Amazingly, despite this, she used the opportunity to set up an intelligence hug enabling the continuing flow of information to the British. For the remainder of the war, Josephine continued to serve the French and British intelligence services
