How to Get a Patent

Many of the things that people write to me saying they had invented are only modifications of existing technology and can thus be copied by anyone under law. The thing about truly new technology is that it makes your invention patentable and then no one can copy it. You will find that in the case of almost anything you dream up, someone, somewhere may have done something vaguely similar before. Your job in seeking a patent is to point out how original and unique what you are doing is compared to what they did. It cost us $150,000 in patent attorney fees just to get that one patent through her.
