In Genesis 1 God tells humans to be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. It's at least suggestive of God didn't create things in the way he ultimately intended them to be. I don't like harmonizing or concordance or somehow reading science in the scripture. But finding a touch point there with natural history that we see things weren't created from the outset has been helpful for me.
