The Ants Pants
When i was a child, i loved the stories about two characters called ant and bee. Do you remember these little books? Did youo home with your daughters? Aunt and b wonderful characters. Ant as d has been around for a long time. So it's a borrowing from a germanic. It came from a word that originally was spelt imit a e, m e t e. And any one who lives in bretoin's cornwall will recognize emet, because there it's the equivalent of devon's grockle. But yes, sir, they're all related, as is feeling ansy, as though you've ants in your pants.
