The songwriter wrote a book in response to some of the pushback she'd gotten. In it, she talks about how one of the lessons that activists can draw is sort of be less activis in politics. We tend to see things as right verse us, left, black or white, republican or democrat. But if we want to impact meaningful change for the people that we serve, we have to work with people who are different than ourselves.
