"You can describe these things in two different ways so when a chemist is describing a chemical reaction they could reduce things to what is happening at the level of the electrons," he says. "So too with the action of what's going on with a human brain you would be wrong in a sense to try and reduce it to the jiggling of atoms or ones and zeros being processed by neurons" He adds: "The emergence is not an emergence of the zeros and ones which is what a computer is but rather emergent from the interaction of biological components of chemical interactions"
