There is a lot of industrial demand for hydrogen already with things like methanol and fertilizer. But there does need to be more, so the government is pursuing a few different ways of stimulating demand. blending hydrogen into the gas network isn't quite as green as it might sound because hydrogen contains much less energy per liter than natural gas do. One energy analyst I spoke to called that stupid.
