There was also a powerful impetus behind letting big corporations make a lot of money in russia. I mean, america would say they really encouraged that. And so to some extent, like, hey, you choose your oligarchs. We don't care, as long as we get a piece of the action. i gather that one reason puton managed to amass a certain amount of popular support is he is perceived as the saviour. That'sh he certainly takes credit for that. But yes, he's taken credit for and a lot of people are happy to give him that.
