Stories That Focus on the Non-Human Relationship Are a Late Day Cultural Invention
You said that stories that expound an individualist, human exceptionalist, commodity, mediated worldview are a late day cultural invention. And you've also talked about how we need stories that focus on the non-human or the human and the non-Human relationship if we're to address the tremendous ecological crisis that we're facing. Yeah, I think that invention starts to happen around the early 19th century in western Europe and in North America where our various technologies so seduce us into thinking that we can go alone. The idea that we are exceptional and independent and autonomous has created a culture in which these great, teeming, reciprocal communities of living things became nothing but commodities which we could use
