How to Study a Master's Painting Process
When you do a painting, try to study the process by actually doing a copy of a painting by that master. And then once you've done one of theirs, you try to replicate that style or whatever it is that you chose to study from them with your own reference material. Don't use them at all. Only use what you learned from them to applying out to yourself, to your own work. I think so too, because now it's moving from study to practice.
