The Importance of Blood Pressure
There's something about atherosclerosis that's relatively unique to our species. And it really has to do with the composition of our lipids. It may be that because we needed so much cholesterol for our brains and for our hormone developments during a time of very significant scarcity, we developed these lipoproteins as a way to hoard more cholesterol. But now that nutrients aren't scarce, and like we have enough food stock to make enough cholesterol easily, we simply don't need it anymore. Now it's basically become a liability for us on a time scale that evolution doesn't care about.
