This was all back in 19 15, so just three years after the deaths of oates, wilson and scott. So i suppose those deaths and those tragedies would have been quite fresh in his mind as he came up with his plan to reach that whaling station eventually. An i think heas he was also, mean, he'd shown a certain degree of caution before. His own attempt to get to the pole, when he did get fairly close, this was only 19 o sevento nine expedition failed, and hed turned round when he realized it wasn't going to work. He died there of a heart attack. Ah, only in his late forties. Amen i think probably
